PERIPHERAL BLOOD MONONUCLEAR CELLS (PBMC)

Peripheral blood mononuclear cells are usually collected by isolation from whole blood samples. Their location in the peripheral blood is significant because they act as a line of defense against infection and disease.

The three main categories of cells present in a PBMC composition include:

• Lymphocytes: 70-90% 
• Monocytes: 10-30%
• Dendritic Cells: around 1-2%

We propose a simple, reliable protocol for obtaining peripheral blood mononuclear cells from small volumes of blood samples.
